Ireland has once again been recognised as a top travel destination, with luxury travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler ranking it among the best spring destinations in Ireland. The publication praised the country’s mild climate, stunning landscapes, and lively St Patrick’s Day celebrations as key reasons to visit in March.

As the post-holiday blues settle in, many people start planning their spring getaways, and Conde Nast Traveler has compiled a list of top locations for a March holiday. From sun-soaked islands to winter sports resorts, the list covers a range of options—but Ireland stands out as one of the best choices for those seeking a mix of natural beauty, history, and festive energy.

Why Ireland is a Must-Visit in Spring

One of the main factors that earned Ireland its spot on the list is its mild spring weather. March temperatures typically range from 8°C to 12°C, making it an ideal time for outdoor exploration. The country’s close proximity to England also makes it an easy weekend getaway for UK travellers, while international visitors can enjoy convenient connections from major airports.

The magazine described Ireland as a destination that “never disappoints” and highlighted its lush green landscapes, dramatic coastlines, and rugged countryside, which become even more breathtaking in spring.

However, the biggest draw in March is undoubtedly St Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s most famous national holiday. Cities across the country come alive with parades, music, and celebrations, making it an exciting time to experience Irish culture. Visitors can join pub crawls, watch spectacular parades, and then refresh with scenic walks along Ireland’s many beaches and nature trails the following morning.

    Dublin and Beyond

While Dublin remains the top destination for many visitors, Conde Nast Traveler also spotlighted another gem—Ashford Castle in County Mayo. This 13th-century castle-turned-luxury-hotel offers a five-star experience with French château-style elegance, blended with Irish heritage. Surrounded by stunning landscapes, it provides a tranquil retreat for those looking to experience Ireland’s charm in ultimate comfort.

For those looking to explore beyond the capital, Ireland offers a wealth of experiences, from coastal hikes to historical landmarks and whiskey distillery tours. Whether enjoying the vibrant energy of Dublin or escaping to the countryside, visitors in spring will find plenty to see and do.

With its rich history, breathtaking scenery, and lively March festivities, Ireland’s inclusion among the best spring destinations in Ireland is well deserved.
